リランカーはどのように機能しますか？

リランカーはクエリと候補となるドキュメントのセットを入力として受け取り、意味的関連性に基づいて再秩序付けされたリストを返します。ドキュメントは通常、埋め込みベースの検索システムからの予備結果であり、リランカーはこれらの候補ドキュメントの順位を洗練させ、より正確な関連性スコアを提供します。

埋め込みモデルがクエリとドキュメントを別々にエンコードするのに対し、リランカーはクロスエンコーダーであり、クエリとドキュメントのペアを共同で処理することで、より正確な関連性予測を可能にします。したがって、埋め込みベースの検索（またはBM25やTF-IDFなどの語彙検索アルゴリズム）で取得された上位候補にリランカーを適用することが一般的な慣行です。
